Report recommends sale of city-owned John Blumberg Golf Course in Winnipeg

The sale of the municipal John Blumberg Golf Course is being recommended to city council in Winnipeg.

A report recommends the sale of the course for $13.7 million to Schinkel Properties for redevelopment. The report outlines a 10-year plan for 339 single-family lots, 29 acres of multi-family housing, 13 acres of commercial space and 36 acres of parkland.

Sale of the property is dependent upon the approval of two-thirds of council and approval by the regional municipality for the development and subdivision of the property.

The city determined in 2013 that the golf course property was surplus to its needs.
